How much do plantation shutters cost in Australia?

So, first things first, how much do plantation shutters cost, on average, in Australia? Here’s a rough overview:

Naturally, plantation shutter prices can vary depending on factors such as material choice (which we will cover shortly), size, and customization options.

In any case, you can expect to pay anywhere between $2,000 and $4,000 AUD depending on your needs. For much larger houses with more windows to cover, the price may be considerably higher.

It’s important for you to consider your budget and requirements before making a final decision.

For an accurate quote, we highly recommend contacting a reputable plantation shutter manufacturer in your area.

How much do PVC plantation shutters cost?

How much do aluminium plantation shutters cost?

Finally, let’s take a look at how much aluminium plantation shutters cost on average in Australia:

Aluminium plantation shutters are known for their durability and resistance to moisture, making them suitable for high-humidity areas.

Prices for aluminium shutters typically range from $300 to $600 per square meter.

Note: Please bear in mind that these prices are merely averages and not necessarily reflective of what you will end up paying. Again, for the most accurate and up-to-date quotes on plantation shutters in Australia, contact a reputable supplier and they’ll advise you accordingly.

Which is the best material for manufacturing plantation shutters? (PVC Vs Timber Vs Aluminium)

Now that we have a rough idea of what the various materials cost, which one is best for manufacturing plantation shutters? Here are some key considerations when making a final decision:

The choice of material depends on your specific needs and preference – so make sure you know exactly what you want to get from your plantation shutters before going ahead with a specific material choice.

PVC shutters are affordable and low-maintenance; given that they are very easy to clean.

Timber shutters offer a classic and luxurious feel, though typically carry a heavier price tag.

Aluminium shutters are durable and water-proof, thus making them suitable for areas prone to high levels of moisture.

Consider factors such as your realistic available budget, preferred style, and functionality when deciding on the best material for your plantation shutters.

Are plantation shutters worth the investment?

Now let’s tackle the burning question: are plantation shutters worth the investment? Are they really all they’re cracked up to be?

Plantation shutters can enhance the aesthetics of your home, complimenting a variety of interior design styles.

They provide exceptional privacy and light control.

They are a long-term investment that can help you reduce your energy costs considerably over time.

They’re great for bathrooms (especially aluminium).

Given how easy they are to clean and maintain, they’re perfect for those who suffer from allergies.

They add curb appeal to every home.

Do plantation shutters add value to a property?

More importantly, will plantation shutters add value when installed on your Australian property?

Yes, plantation shutters are considered a desirable feature by homebuyers, which can increase the value of your property.

Not only can they add monetary value to a property, but the enhanced curb appeal also increases the overall ‘buyability’ of a property as well.

Their durability and timeless appeal make them a worthwhile investment indeed!

Conclusion

When considering plantation shutters in Australia, it’s essential to weigh the cost differences between PVC, timber, and aluminium. But more importantly, you should also think carefully about the key features that each material choice can offer you.

For example, if you are installing plantation shutters in your bathroom, aluminium is a great choice given its waterproof capabilities. Whereas, if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful option with ease of maintenance, PVC is by far the superior option. And of course, if money is not so much of a concern for you, you can’t go wrong with a classic timber plantation shutter vibe.

Each material has its own advantages and price points, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your specific needs and budget. So, take your time, explore your options in greater depth, and then make a final decision once you have all the facts.

In any case, we hope that this article has shed some light on the differences between PVC, timber, and aluminium plantation shutters. Whatever you choose, we wish you the best of luck with your home renovations.

Many of you would have heard about feijoa, some might have tasted it already. But for those who have never heard of this exotic yet common fruit in Australia and New Zealand, let’s get to know what it is and the nutritional values of feijoa, shall we?

What is Feijoa? What are they called in Australia? What country did it come from?

Feijoa (Acca sellowiana), pineapple guava, or guavasteen, is an exotic plant related to guava in the Myrtle family. It is a native fruit of southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and some parts of Argentina. A German botanist Otto Karl Berg named the fruit in honour of the Brazilian naturalist Joao Da Silva Feijo. The plant was introduced into Europe in the 1890s and then imported into New Zealand around the 1920s. Ever since Feijoa has been very popular in New Zealand for generations. And over the last few decades, it has been rediscovered by home gardeners and commercial fruit growers.

What are the Characteristics of the Feijoa Fruit?

Feijoa fruits are oblong berries the size of an egg. They are covered with thin skin with a slightly hairy, rough or smooth epidermis, depending on the variety. When ripe, the wrapping can vary from yellow to green and give off a pleasant smell. In regions where the summer is prolonged and the temperatures are mild, feijoa will produce small green, tasty ovoids rich in vitamin C. The texture of the pulp is juicy in its centre and slightly grainy in its periphery. The aroma of this exotic fruit is unique and resembles a mixture of pineapple, guava and strawberry. It perfectly combines acidic and sweet flavours.

Though when the fruit is young, it has a pleasant acidic taste, when it is too ripe, it exhales a scent similar to turpentine.

The tree is about 5 metres (15 feet) high and has olive-like leaves, dark green above and silvery beneath. The large white flowers have purplish crimson interiors. Feijoas are propagated by seeds, cuttings, whip grafting, and layering of low branches.

Feijoa flower

Usage of feijoa

The fruit is mainly eaten fresh however due to the short season sometime around autumn. Feijoas are used in cooking and preserved.

It’s not only the feijoa fruit that’s edible! You can also eat the flower petals! With a sweet and musky taste, they make a great addition to salads.

Originally the native tribes of South America used the leaves of the feijoa to make a liquid potion for medicinal purposes. Today in parts of Eastern Europe, The Caucasus and other parts of the ex-Soviet Union countries, feijoa leaves are brewed as a tea.

Feijoa can be pruned to topiary forms or espaliered (trained to grow along a fence).

Nutrition and Benefits

Feijoas are low in calories; 100 g of fresh fruit holds only 55 calories. Nonetheless, they are low-fat, cholesterol-free fruits loaded with vitamins, and antioxidants that assure you a healthy state of well-being, free from illnesses.

The fruit is a very rich source of soluble dietary fibre (6.4 g per 100 g of fruit, about 17% of DRA), which makes it a good bulk laxative. The fibre content helps protect the colon mucous membrane by decreasing exposure time to toxins as well as binding to cancer-causing chemicals in the colon.

Feijoa fruit is an excellent source of antioxidant vitamin C. 100 g of fresh fruit provides 32.9 mg of vitamin C, about 55% of DRI (daily recommended intake). Vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant that works well against viral illness through immune-boosting means. Regular consumption of fruits rich in vitamin C helps the human body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge cancer-causing harmful free radicals from the body.

Feijoa contains small proportions of B-complex vitamins such as pantothenic acid, niacin, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), and vitamins E and K, as well as minerals like calcium, magnesium, copper, and manganese.

Commercialisation

It is recorded that in 1890, a botanist named Edouard Andre brought the first samples back to his country of origin in France where the cultivars were improved and distributed to other parts of the world from there. The feijoa plant was also grown as an ornamental in gardens.

Today New Zealand is by far the leader in the feijoa industry. Since the early 20th century, New Zealand has been developing new and improved varieties of feijoas, many of that are now grown commercially worldwide. New Zealand is also the largest producer of feijoas, estimated to be more than 800 tonnes per year.

Australia is an amazing country for ex-pats, boasting diverse and interesting countryside, a fantastic climate, and a host of other bonuses like great health care and education. To move and live there permanently would be a dream come true for so many people, and if you are one of them you may be wondering how exactly you can make this happen. While there are ways to move to Australia in the short and longer term, to live there permanently can seem tough so here we will look at how you can do this and what jobs can help get you there.

How can I work in Australia permanently?

In order to work in Australia permanently, you must apply for a work visa, and while there are a few differences depending on what you want and what you will do there are some general criteria you must hit. Skilled migration is the most popular and common way for people to move to and work in Australia, with thousands doing so every year.

The first step is to know what we mean by a skilled worker, which is to say a person who has particular knowledge of or training in a particular job. This can be achieved through experience and time working in that field, a training program or course of study, or a degree or higher education in that subject. If this sounds like you then there are a series of other boxes to check:

Age – If you want to migrate to Australia on a skilled migrant visa you must be under the age of 45. There can at times be exceptions and there are other options available if you are over that but in general 45 is the limit.

Demand – To get work there must be work to get, and Australia has a comprehensive list of every job that has a workforce shortage and therefore is in need of foreign workers to come over on a visa a help out. This Skilled Opportunity List (SOL) covers everything they need and also which are short term and which longer-term jobs, as well as which are regional instead of countrywide. Even if the job you want is listed as short term it can still be possible to work in Australia permanently after you arrive, applying for extensions and, eventually, naturalisation.

Proficiency in English – It is necessary to prove that you have a basic level of English in order to move and live in Australia.

Good health and good character – It is also essential to be of good character, with a Police certificate giving you clearance and a medical examination.

You also need to have your skills assessed and then nominate yourself having the right number of points in a system that takes it all into account, or have a registered company sponsor you again depending on the route you are taking. If any of this seems a little difficult it can be, so don’t be afraid to use an agency to help you through the process.

How can a foreigner get a job in Australia?

As just stated one of the best ways to get a job in Australia is to be sponsored by an Australian business. It must be lawful, registered with the government and representative of one of the in-demand jobs on the SOL. It is important to check that this company has positions available and wants to sponsor new employees at which point you can begin the application process. You can also nominate yourself based on fitting the aforementioned criteria and in possession of the right amount of points to make it likely you will be accepted.

You can find employers and jobs in a variety of places these days including LinkedIn and searches online, and if you are unsure how to proceed have a look at the available skilled migration visa support in Australia to get you going. A great CV and an enthusiasm for resettling in Australia will stand you in good stead, and make sure you are available for video interviews to allow potential bosses to get to meet you and get a feel for you. This should all help you to land a job and make your move.

What jobs are in demand in Australia for immigrants?

We have mentioned the SOL a couple of times, Australia’s list of its skilled occupations that are in high demand, and this is your first port of call to see if your job, or something like it, makes you eligible for a visa. There are hundreds of jobs on the list encompassing so many industries and areas that it is likely you will find something that connects with your experience or skills. Here are a few examples to get you started:

Hospitality – generally aimed more at management positions, Australia has a high level of demand in places like hotels, motels, restaurants, cafes, and many others.

Writing – from journalism to copywriting and editing there are many areas in which you can use your skills here.

Farming – with crops and animals alike there are tons of opportunities to get a visa to do something in this field including growing and picking, breeding, and as a scientist too.

Entertainment – as a director, editor, manager, or producer among other things this is another sector well represented in this list.

Health – pharmacists, nurses, and dentists are just a few of the roles that are in demand here with hands-on and off jobs.

With too many jobs to list them all here from carpentry to ICT and flying instructing to zoology, it is definitely worth having a look and seeing if you qualify too.

If living permanently in Australia is your goal make sure you keep checking the requirements, ask for help and guidance if you need and take it one step at a time and you can be one of the thousands who move to Australia this year.

A trip to Thailand could be a dream come true for a lot of people, but it could turn into a nightmare if you don’t know what you are getting into. It has been a tough and confusing time for the travel industry and those wishing to visit or move to new places, and it is still tough to know the rules. While a lot of the regulations are constantly changing and you should always check for the most up-to-date information before you travel, here we will have a look at Thailand and the ways in which you can visit and stay there.

Is Thailand open for visitors?

The simple answer is yes. Thailand is open for visitors, but there have been many hoops in place for you to get there and actually go out and about including a long quarantine which is being reduced for those vaccinated and in areas where people can stay in that one place. A lot of the steps that might have put people off travel are being reduced and lifted which will hopefully lead to more and more people being able to visit this beautiful and wonderful country.

Is it cheap in Thailand?

While restrictions and lengths of quarantine may change, one thing remains constant and that is how cheap Thailand is. Some people will of course always bring up how it used to be even better and cheaper in the past, but Thailand is still great value for food, drink, and most anything else you want to enjoy on your trip.

You do have to watch out for typical tourist traps, getting in the wrong taxi or stopping at the fanciest hotel can end up costing you more money than the usual ones, but there are options for transport and places to stay to suit every budget no matter how small. When you can eat delicious food for $1 or stay in a hostel for $5 you can hardly say that this country is not cheap.

How much is rent in Thailand?

Rent in Thailand varies greatly depending on the space you need, your desired level of luxury, and your budget. While the average monthly price is around $1,200, you could spend a third of that for budget-friendly options, or significantly more for a villa with a pool. Costs also vary by location, with popular expat areas often being pricier but offering amenities that set them apart.

Thailand is an excellent base for living and exploring neighboring countries, so don’t be deterred by rental costs. You can opt for short-term accommodation and travel between leases, leaving your belongings in a secure storage facility. This gives you the freedom to go where you please, within current restrictions.

Can I enter Thailand without a visa?

If you are an Australian citizen, or from any of the countries on the visa exemption list, flying into Thailand you can stay without a visa for up to 30 days. This is great for a holiday but not so great for a longer trip or move there. There are many different visa options depending on work, length of stay, and many other factors so decide how long you want to go for and double-check what options are available to you in your circumstances.

How long can I stay in Thailand for?

If you are travelling as a tourist there are different visas for 30, 60, and 90 days, and it can be possible to extend these within the country or leave and re-enter allowing you to effectively ‘stay’ for longer. If you don’t want to pay the 30-day visa exemption can be used more than once as long as you exit the country in between, but again make sure you check with the embassy to make sure you won’t get any unwelcome news at the airport or land border when you come back.

Can you live in Thailand permanently?

If it is your dream to head off to Thailand for good, or at least you want to know if it is a possibility, then the good news is you can indeed live in Thailand permanently. There are many options available based on your age, financial situation, and employment among others so it should be possible to find the best fit for you.

One way is of course if you are married or guardian to a citizen of Thailand, while you can get an investment visa if you have 3-10 million Baht (around $130,000 plus) which won’t suit every potential resident. You can get a work or business visa and many people also choose to retire to this fantastic country and enjoy their non-working life in affordable luxury. Have a look and see which visa type would suit you and remember again to always check for updates and new information. You can also stay on a shorter-term visa and continue to get renewals if that seems more your speed, though it does come with the expense, bother, and potential uncertainty of not knowing if it will indeed get renewed. It may take some research, time, and effort but travelling to and staying in Thailand is truly worth it in the end.

The most important thing when planning any trip to Thailand, be it a short holiday or a more permanent move, is to check the embassy website and see what the most up-to-date information is on visas and anything else you might need to know. Thailand is open again and it is one of the most beautiful and affordable countries in the world, so why not get planning your perfect holiday today.

Whilst epoxy flooring has traditionally been used in only commercial settings, you’ll discover that it is now becoming more and more popular in homes and garages throughout Australia. And with good reason to: epoxy flooring can significantly help to improve the overall aesthetic appearance of a floor, without having to break the bank while you are at it.

That said, how much does it cost on average per square meter for some epoxy flooring? Does it differentiate between commercial and residential applications? And how about garages and kitchens? Is one application more expensive than the other?

In this article, we’re going to take a closer look at epoxy flooring in every application, so that you can get a rough idea as to how much such a project will set you back.

And of course, what benefit does epoxy flooring offer over traditional flooring materials? Read on to find out more…

What is the average epoxy floor cost per m2?

So, what is the average cost of epoxy flooring per m2? Generally speaking, in Australia, you are looking at between £30 and £35 per square meter for two coats of epoxy flooring over a concrete surface. Remember that these figures are not entirely accurate and may vary depending on your personal circumstances and which company you decide to roll with for your epoxy flooring application.

The price can be upwards of $80 and $100 per m2 if you need the concrete to be prepared beforehand. For example, diamond grinding is useful for preparing concrete surfaces for the perfect application of epoxy, particularly if you want a decorative finish.

But, what other factors can influence the overall cost of epoxy flooring per m2?

The cost of your epoxy flooring finish will depend on the following factors:

What kind of condition is the existing concrete in?

What type of look and finish are you after? Would you like a 3D epoxy finish? Something decorative?

How big is the space in question? Naturally, the larger the space (e.g., a commercial garage), is going to require more epoxy to finish the application.

Where you are (e.g., an epoxy flooring specialist in central Sydney is likely to charge more than someone in Perth, for example).

The company that you decide to use

Self-levelling epoxy flooring cost

With that in mind, how much does self-levelling epoxy flooring cost? Is there much of a difference between self-levelling epoxy as opposed to a traditional application?

Typically speaking, self-levelling epoxy flooring costs between $40 and $65. Again, this is likely to be higher if in the event that you need your concrete surface to be rendered and prepared for the application.

Residential epoxy flooring cost

Residential epoxy flooring also falls around the $30 and $35 per m2 mark. If your property is in relatively poor condition and a great deal of preparation work is involved, then those prices are likely to be closer to the $80/$100 AUD mark.

What is the average cost for an epoxy garage floor?

Most professionals in the industry will quote you for epoxy flooring based on the overall size of the space. That being said, there are likely to be other considerations that can affect the overall cost of epoxy garage flooring per m2 (as listed above). If extensive work is required in order to prepare the garage floor for the epoxy application, then the overall cost per square metre is likely to be higher.

Generally speaking, you will secure yourself a much better rate per square meter if you are having a larger surface area treated. This is due to the set-up and preparation time that is involved. So, whilst having a small garage treated with epoxy flooring will be cheaper than a much larger space; the actual cost per square meter for garage epoxy flooring will be lower. This is a typical economical advantage when it comes to renovations.

In most garages, you will need to pay for diamond grinding so as to smooth the surface sufficiently. Following that, a garage floor will need two coats of epoxy in order for it to take properly and achieve the desired aesthetic appeal. In this case, you are likely to be looking at $80 per square metre for a single-car garage. Whereas a double car garage will fall around the $50 per square metre (as detailed above).

So, to recap: typically, for epoxy flooring in a garage, you’ll be looking at an average of $50-$80 per square metre in Australia.

Commercial epoxy flooring cost

Commercial epoxy flooring costs aren’t so dissimilar to that of residential. Again, it all depends on the overall size of the unit, the pre-existing condition that the flooring is in, and how much preparation work is involved.

Economically speaking, a large commercial space will be cheaper than a small residential garage per square meter.

Commercial kitchen epoxy flooring cost

Again, a commercial kitchen epoxy flooring cost will be lower per square metre than that of a residential one.

3d epoxy flooring cost per square metre

3D epoxy flooring costs are likely to be between $50 and $100 per square meter, depending on the quality and complexity of the design that you are after. Several layers need to be applied in order to achieve the desired 3D look, so the cost will invariably be higher than a traditional epoxy flooring application.

Is epoxy flooring really worth it? What are the benefits?

Epoxy flooring is an attractive solution as it offers the following benefits:

It is attractive

It’s practical

There are a wide range of colours and designs

Epoxy is easy to keep clean

It is hard-wearing (particularly when applied properly)

You can expect a seamless finish

It is cost-effective

Highly durable

And there are many unique finishes available

Would you like to explore epoxy flooring further? Perhaps you have a commercial project that could do with a 3D epoxy flooring finish? Or maybe your garage is looking a little worse for wear and could do with a fresh coat of epoxy flooring to bring it back to life? Whatever the case, finding the right company to work with is essential. Find a reputable and established company for a high-quality finish and the most competitive prices.

Either way, we have shared some exceptional tasting coffee with you in this article. So, rather than “what is the best tasting coffee in the world?”, let’s take a look at the rarest:

Kopi Luwak is the rarest (and strangest) coffee in the world. The beans are plucked from civet’s faeces (a small, lean, nocturnal mammal native to Asia and Africa), and then brewed to make a truly delicious beverage. Certainly, in theory, it sounds disgusting, but if you can get past the ‘poop’ part, then you will be in for a treat!

Ah isn’t living in Australia great? All of the wonderful little pests that we have to deal with on a day to day basis is frustrating. Sure, it’s not every day that you come across a Red Back, but mosquitos are 10 a cent, particularly during the summer months.

If you are finding your home to be infested with mosquitos and you don’t know what to do, then you have come to the right place. Here we will take you through some tips to keep them under control.

My House is Infested with Mosquitoes

If this statement rings true for you, then your life sounds like a bit of a nightmare at the moment. Having mosquitos flying around and biting you at night, in the comfort of your own home is an absolute nightmare. Here’s what you need to do…

Home Mosquito Control Tips:

1 – Stop them from entering

The easiest way to have a mosquito-free home is simply to stop them from entering. Easier said than done though, right?

When it is dusk and the sun begins to set, this is the time to close your windows and doors tightly.

If you have mosquito nets and fly screens, this can make life a bit easier in the summer allowing you to keep the air flowing and the mozzies out.

You can also buy door strips online. These essentially block the space between your doors and windows and walls, keeping the mozzies from entering easily.

2 – Stop them from breeding

If you have a lot of mosquitos in your home and ‘keeping them out’ doesn’t seem to be working, then you could have them breeding inside your home. Here is how to prevent them.

Pooled water from your AC or in the garden are prime breeding grounds for mozzies

Clean storerooms, kitchens, and lofts were old items are stacked

Any ditches outside your home should be filled with dirt to prevent pooling (ideal for breeding)

You should also check the drains in and around your house, covering them and cleaning them regularly

Remember that mosquitos like stagnant bodies of water for breeding. Even a little dripping from a leaky pipe under the sink can accommodate this breeding pattern. Be vigilant.

3 – Mozzie repellent plants

Keeping plants in your home that are particularly unpleasant to mosquitos is another good choice. This is surprisingly effective as fortunately, mosquitoes are very fussy.

Marigolds

Tulsi

Lemongrass

Citronella

Mint

Catnip

Keeping these plants in your bedroom, on your desk, or in the kitchen is a great way of keeping the mosquitos in your home to an absolute minimum

Some of these plants will not only keep the mosquito population down, but they can repel other pests as well such as mice

These plants are all small enough to keep in doors, and they’re not an eyesore either

4 – Sliced lemon and cloves work wonders

Mosquitos hate the small of citrus! And the good thing, is that to us, these smells are actually rather pleasant. S

Slice up some lemons and push cloves into them

Leave them scattered around the home as an ideal mosquito repellent

This is harmless and relatively odorous for us

5 – Homemade garlic spray

There are many mosquito repellent sprays that you can use, but if you’d sooner avoid chemicals, then a natural remedy or homemade mosquito solution is your next best option.

Crush a few cloves of garlic

Boil them in water for a little while

Dispense the solution into a spray bottle

Spray it around the house to help control the mosquito infestation

Garlic is rather pungent, but it can kill mozzies instantly, making it highly effective. In addition to that, the smell doesn’t linger too long, which means this can be done frequently without your home having to smell of garlic all day, every day. In any case, this amazing mosquito solution is cheap and easy to make.

6 – Eat a mosquito’s least favourite diet

Again, mosquitos are terribly fussy, which gives us an advantage if we don’t mind changing up our diet a little bit. Here is a list of foods that mosquitos loathe. Eating the right food can prevent mosquitos from biting you.

Garlic

Onions

Apple Cider Vinegar

Lemon Grass

Chilli Peppers

Beans

Lentils

Tomatoes

Right there, you have all the makings of some delicious Thai or Vietnamese food. This could be a great opportunity for you to explore some different cooking ideas. Two birds, one stone.

7 – Keep a dish of soapy water

Mosquitos are always attracted to water, which is why this tip is especially handy. Fill up a large bowl or container with plenty of water, and make sure that it is nice and soapy with big bubbles. The mosquitos in your home will be invariably attracted to the water, and when they land to drink, they will get trapped and die.

Kill mosquitos indoors

It can be frustrating trying to hunt a mosquito in your home. Every now and again it will fly through your peripheral vision, and then when you try to catch it, it quickly disappears from sight.

Nothing says “my house is infested with mosquitos” then finding yourself running around and clapping thin air every few minutes.

You can get a bug-zapper device which are pretty handy for wafting around the place and catching plenty of bugs in mid-flight.

Fly tape dangling from lights is another pretty handy tips.

Conclusion

If you are feeling a little out of your depth and struggling to get on top of the mosquito situation, remember that assistance is always available. You are never alone, no matter how desperate or frustrated you might be!

So, you are thinking about having your swimming pool resurfaced? Then you are likely wondering how much the process is likely going to set you back. Well, one this is for certain: it’s going to be significantly cheaper than having a brand-new swimming pool installed entirely. And the best part about that, is the fact that a resurfaced swimming pool can indeed feel as though you have a brand-new swimming pool so it’s a win-win.

When it comes to money, giving an accurate estimation as to how much it will cost is impossible, given how many variants they are.

Where are you based in Australia?

How old is your swimming pool?

How big is your swimming pool?

What materials do you want to use?

What time of year do you want to refurb to take place?

Do you want to do the job yourself?

If not, which pool renovations company will you choose?

There are so many factors at play, which is why we can only offer you pool resurfacing cost estimates. So please be aware that the figures shared in this article are merely speculative. At the very least, it should give you a rough idea as to how much you will be looking at for your refurbishment project. If in the event that you are serious about moving ahead, you should reach out to the best pool resurfacing company in your local area and request a quote. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some averages for you.

Please note that all of the averages for pool resurfacing costs have been calculated in Australian Dollars.

Average Costs for Resurfacing a Swimming Pool

The national average for pool refinishing costs is somewhere in the region of $8,600 AUD. This can range from anywhere between $1,300 and $132,500, including the materials and labour. On average, the labour charges can range between $60 and $80 an hour. That said, it really depends on the location and size of the project.

Most commonly, a pool resurfacing gig could cost $3,300 and take 5 days to complete.

Regarding materials, you can be looking at anywhere between $1,300 and $80,000, again depending entirely on you. From the low-cost plaster all the way up to high-quality glass tiles, there is a style to suit every budget.

Fibreglass pool resurfacing cost

Fibreglass pool resurfacing costs can average $8,600 to resurface. It is important to note that excluding plaster, all types of finishes can be applied to fibreglass as well. The base type will not vary the cost of the application, so the different finishes (mentioned below) should remain the same.

Paint

Pebble

Tiles

Aggregate

Diamond brite pool resurfacing cost

One of the major benefits of using Diamond Brite for your pool resurfacing is that it can last anywhere from 8 to 12 years before it begins to spot and fade. You should, however, aim to give it an acid wash after approx. 5 years to keep it fresh and bright. In any case, it style and colour will have a different price, ranging from $6,600 to $13,200.

Gunite pool resurfacing cost

Gunite pools will typically cost around $8,600 to resurface. There are many types of concrete pool finishes available for you to choose from:

Paint (cheap, large variety, can be DIY)

Plaster (low cost)

Pebble (durable, aesthetically stunning, some colour variety)

Tile (high price range, but the most durable with many varying options)

Aggregate (stunning with textured or smooth options)

Marcite pool resurfacing cost

Finishing a pool with plaster (aka Marcite) can set you back around $7,200. Here are some of the pros and cons for choosing this options:

Pro: it is one of the cheapest options

Cons: It is prone to cracking, staining, and wearing rather quickly

When it comes to spot-treating any cracks, chips, or bubbling surfaces, we do not recommend it. Here’s why: as confident as you might be, it is all too easy for amateurs to mix paster wrong, or to simply apply it incorrectly. Another thing is that attending a couple of cracks likely means that more will follow afterwards. Ideally, your best bet is to simply have a professional address the issue for you, particularly if you’d like to avoid costly repairs in the future.

Conclusion

Once again, do not take these figures as gospel. You may be put off by some of them, though there is a good chance that you can save yourself a bit of money by shopping around or indeed opting for one of the cheaper materials. That said, you should indeed factor in the longevity of your pool resurfacing project. You may save yourself a bit of money in the short-term, but the more expensive options tend to be so because they last far-longer.

And of course, what might feel like a lot of money is certainly pale in comparison to the cost of a brand-new swimming pool entirely. Think about how much use you can get out of your swimming pool and the enjoyment that you and your family have when you share it together. Keeping your pool in excellent condition is not only important for keeping you interested and enjoying your pool but safe as well.

In any case, we hope this article has been useful for you. Do your research, shop around for a number of different quotes from your local pool resurfacing companies and then make a informed decision as to how you wish to proceed. Enjoy!

There is nothing quite so important as feeding your wonderful guests at your wedding. Yes, there are many valuable factors that require your attention, but keeping all of your beloved friends and family members fat and full is an absolute essentiality. The trouble is…how much is it going to set you back? A wedding is expensive enough as it is without having to fork out thousands on food, surely?

Well, you may or may not be surprised to learn that couples are spending a fair amount on average on catering. And rightly so! Don’t forget that many of your guests are taking time off, travelling far and wide, and putting a lot of effort into showing up for your special day. The least you can do is treat them to a banging feast!

To give you an idea, in 2016, the average spend on wedding catering in Australia was around the $8,000 mark. That is nationwide. But what about the individual states? Which one applies to you?

Aus Capital Territory: $11,000

Victorian: $10,000

NSW: $9,000

WA: $6,500

Northern Territory: $6,500

Tasmanian: $7000

Queensland: $5000

The average cost per head for wedding catering

So, what is the average price per head for wedding catering? As of 2020, the average cost is around the $9,891 mark for wedding catering, which is a fair jump from $8k in 2016. Let’s say that you need wedding catering for 100 guests…That will wedding catering cost will average out at around $98 AUD per head, for food. That’s not a terrible amount of money to spend on sharing your special day with all of your friends and family when you break it down.

Of course, the cost to cater a wedding for 100 is all well and good if you have 200+ guests! If times are tough and you don’t fancy spending too much money, let’s hope that you have a couple of no-shows.

The average wedding catering cost for 100 guests

Again, the average wedding catering cost for 100 guests is approximately $100 AUD.

The average wedding catering cost for 150 guests

If we were to go on the average wedding catering costs for 150 heads, we’d have to go off the national average that we have which is $9,891. However, the problem with that is that it ends up being cheaper than if you were to have 100 guests $66 AUD per head. Do you see the problem here?

That being said, the larger the order you need to place, generally the better rates you will receive from your wedding catering company. Thus, the catering for 150 guests’ cost being $66 per head, could in fact be a reasonable estimation.

The average cost of wedding catering for 200 guests

The same applies to the average catering cost for 200. $50 per head certainly sounds incredibly cheap when catering for 200 people at a wedding in Australia! That being said, it really depends on the style of catering that you decide to go for. For example, if you hire a food van or perhaps go for a buffet-style wedding catering service, then all of a sudden $50 a head doesn’t sound unreasonable.

Here are 6 tips for wedding catering on a budget

1 – Lockdown special offer rates

This might take a bit of doing but it is possible if you have plenty of time. You can go to wedding expos and events in your local area and see what you can find. That being said, the best deals are typically secured when you make a decision and book it on the spot. If you would prefer to take your time and plan meticulously then this might not be the best approach for you.

2 – Opt for budget-friendly food

Nobody wants to be seen as being cheap, but a wedding is an incredibly expensive event. There’s no shame in opting for slightly cheaper foods in order to keep the costs down per head (e.g., pork, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, etc).

3 – Skip a full-service dinner

Again, going for cheaper alternatives like a buffet-style dinner without the need for much in the way of staffing is a great way to save some money on your average wedding catering costs.

4 – Get married on a weekday

It’s not ideal, but it’s certainly cheaper getting married on a weekday. Not only that, but if you are really stingy, you might get lucky with a few people being unable to get the day off work!

5 – Disposable dinnerware is an option

You don’t have to rent fancy china for your wedding feast. There’s no shame in paper plates!

6 – Casual cocktail hour

Having fancy food and expensive cocktails after the feast isn’t necessary if you want to cut back a bit. Simple snacks like and regular alcoholic beverages are a viable alternative.

Conclusion

As it stands, the average cost for wedding catering per head in Australia is between $50 and $100, depending on your headcount of course (among many other factors). In any case, these are just approximations and should not be taken as gospel. In order to get the most accurate numbers, you will need to shop around in order to get the best wedding catering service without exceeding your budget.
