Plantation shutters are fast becoming a very popular choice of window covering for homeowners in Australia due to their charming aesthetic appeal and superior functionality. But how much do they cost on average in Australia? Are they a worthwhile investment?

In this article, we’re going to explore the cost differences between PVC, timber, and aluminium plantation shutters, including each material’s key pros and cons. That way, by the end of this article, you should have a much clearer idea as to which material choice is best suited to your needs and whether or not having plantation shutters installed on your property is indeed a viable option.

Undecided? Read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know…

How much do plantation shutters cost in Australia?

So, first things first, how much do plantation shutters cost, on average, in Australia? Here’s a rough overview:

Naturally, plantation shutter prices can vary depending on factors such as material choice (which we will cover shortly), size, and customization options.

In any case, you can expect to pay anywhere between $2,000 and $4,000 AUD depending on your needs. For much larger houses with more windows to cover, the price may be considerably higher.

It’s important for you to consider your budget and requirements before making a final decision.

For an accurate quote, we highly recommend contacting a reputable plantation shutter manufacturer in your area.

How much do PVC plantation shutters cost?

Now let’s get a little more specific. How much do PVC plantation shutters cost in Australia?

PVC plantation shutters are a cost-effective option, with prices typically ranging from $200 to $500 per square meter.

The affordability of PVC shutters makes them a popular choice for budget-conscious homeowners.

How much do timber plantation shutters cost?

If PVC shutters aren’t for you, let’s take a look at the cost of timber plantation shutters instead:

Timber plantation shutters offer a natural and elegant look, but they tend to be more expensive than PVC.

Prices for timber shutters can range from $350 to $800 per square meter, depending on the type of wood and your specific customisation options.

How much do aluminium plantation shutters cost?

Finally, let’s take a look at how much aluminium plantation shutters cost on average in Australia:

Aluminium plantation shutters are known for their durability and resistance to moisture, making them suitable for high-humidity areas.

Prices for aluminium shutters typically range from $300 to $600 per square meter.

Note: Please bear in mind that these prices are merely averages and not necessarily reflective of what you will end up paying. Again, for the most accurate and up-to-date quotes on plantation shutters in Australia, contact a reputable supplier and they’ll advise you accordingly.

Which is the best material for manufacturing plantation shutters? (PVC Vs Timber Vs Aluminium)

Now that we have a rough idea of what the various materials cost, which one is best for manufacturing plantation shutters? Here are some key considerations when making a final decision:

The choice of material depends on your specific needs and preference – so make sure you know exactly what you want to get from your plantation shutters before going ahead with a specific material choice.

PVC shutters are affordable and low-maintenance; given that they are very easy to clean.

Timber shutters offer a classic and luxurious feel, though typically carry a heavier price tag.

Aluminium shutters are durable and water-proof, thus making them suitable for areas prone to high levels of moisture.

Consider factors such as your realistic available budget, preferred style, and functionality when deciding on the best material for your plantation shutters.

Are plantation shutters worth the investment?

Now let’s tackle the burning question: are plantation shutters worth the investment? Are they really all they’re cracked up to be?

Plantation shutters can enhance the aesthetics of your home, complimenting a variety of interior design styles.

They provide exceptional privacy and light control.

They are a long-term investment that can help you reduce your energy costs considerably over time.

They’re great for bathrooms (especially aluminium).

Given how easy they are to clean and maintain, they’re perfect for those who suffer from allergies.

They add curb appeal to every home.

Do plantation shutters add value to a property?

More importantly, will plantation shutters add value when installed on your Australian property?

Yes, plantation shutters are considered a desirable feature by homebuyers, which can increase the value of your property.

Not only can they add monetary value to a property, but the enhanced curb appeal also increases the overall ‘buyability’ of a property as well.

Their durability and timeless appeal make them a worthwhile investment indeed!

Conclusion

When considering plantation shutters in Australia, it’s essential to weigh the cost differences between PVC, timber, and aluminium. But more importantly, you should also think carefully about the key features that each material choice can offer you.

For example, if you are installing plantation shutters in your bathroom, aluminium is a great choice given its waterproof capabilities. Whereas, if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful option with ease of maintenance, PVC is by far the superior option. And of course, if money is not so much of a concern for you, you can’t go wrong with a classic timber plantation shutter vibe.

Each material has its own advantages and price points, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your specific needs and budget. So, take your time, explore your options in greater depth, and then make a final decision once you have all the facts.

In any case, we hope that this article has shed some light on the differences between PVC, timber, and aluminium plantation shutters. Whatever you choose, we wish you the best of luck with your home renovations.

As a Dean at a university, simply hiring any professor for any job wouldn’t work. There is no point in getting an English professor in when what you actually wanted was a professor of nuclear physics. This works much the same with many professions, including doctors and, as we focus on in this article, electricians.

If you are looking to hire a professional for electrical contract work, it is important to know the various options available. Here we will take a look at the differences between commercial and industrial electricians to help you understand these variations and find the right person for the job…

What is electrical contract work?

While it can sound a little complicated, electrical contract work is basically the work carried out by qualified electricians. Electrical contractors can be the electricians themselves, but can also refer to the company that employs them to carry out the work.

When we talk about electrical contract work in general, we mean the work that electricians are tasked to carry out. This includes jobs like:

Designing electrical systems

Installation

Maintenance

Ensuring these systems are safe and effective

Working with high voltage systems

Working with low voltage systems

Working at different locations and so on.

There are many jobs that classify as electrical contract work, and an electrician could carry out any one or all of these depending on their skill set and responsibilities. That being said, there are classifications of electrical contractors, including industrial, commercial and domestic electrical contracting. The former two of which we will go into below.

What is commercial electrical contracting?

When we talk about commercial electrical contractors, we mean the electricians and their employers that work in the commercial sector. That generally means people that work in non-residential places that are still open to the public. This can include:

Restaurants

Offices

Shops

Business spaces and much more.

A commercial electrical contractor may work for a larger company, or may be employed directly by the commercial property itself. Many businesses will have their own onsite electrician to deal with anything from light fixtures to serious issues and maintenance. The role tends to be fairly wide and encompass lots of tasks in any given property.

Some of the main jobs you may expect a commercial electrical contractor to carry out include:

Designing electrical systems

Building these systems

Working with building owners to create the best electrical systems

Ensuring everything is up to code

Maintenance of various systems

Installation of equipment

Rewiring

Repairing systems

Training, working with or leading a team

What is industrial electrical contracting?

Industrial electrical contracting also focuses on businesses rather than residential work. While there are many similarities to commercial electrical contracting, there are several differences as well. Industrial electricians usually work in places that the public don’t tend to go to, only employees and authorised personnel. These places include:

Factories

Plants

Mines

Farms

Construction sites

Industrial sites

Electrical firms

Car manufacturers and much more.

The location is not the only difference between these two types of electrical specialisation, however. Industrial electrical contractors tend to work with far more complex and specific machinery, which can also be more dangerous.

They may work in hydraulics, or with large farming equipment. They may work with robotics or manufacturing equipment. The tasks involved can include many that commercial electrical contractors do as well. They may not do everything that commercial electricians do each day, but will do many of their own tasks as well. Some of these include:

Knowledge of the specific machinery and equipment in their industrial field

Repairing all kinds of equipment

Installing electrical systems

Installing machines

Maintaining devices

Carrying out safety checks

Repairing and restoring any equipment that might have problems

Working with a range of voltages and currents

The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy on any issue that may arise

As you can see, industrial electrical contractors may require that you know all there is to know about farming equipment, or robotics, or hydraulics. Even within this field, there are still further specialisations to be found. You may need to know more about one industry than another, and how to operate in certain locations or particular situations.

To become an industrial electrical contractor can require much more training than to be a residential or commercial electrician. They need an enhanced level of expertise to work with systems on an industrial level, and with such potentially hazardous voltages and equipment.

So, what is the main difference?

Hiring an electrician isn’t the same as hiring a handyman to help you with home repairs. It is essential that you hire a company or individual that can specifically meet your electrical contracting needs. Both commercial and industrial electricians will have the basic knowledge and skills of any professional working in the field, and there are plenty of areas in which the jobs will cross over.

The main difference is that industrial electrical contractors tend to work with more specialised equipment in situations that can be more machine-focused. They must have the knowledge to troubleshoot, maintain and repair complex and intricate machinery, and work to keep their factory, mine or farm running smoothly.

Commercial electrical contractors, on the other hand, tend to have more of a focus on setting up and maintaining electrical systems in buildings. They still check the safety of systems, install, maintain, rewire and carry out much of the same work, just in a different location and often on a different scale.

Final thoughts

It may still seem that most electricians carry out similar jobs. They undertake similar training and have to understand the inherent dangers of electricity. They work to certain safety standards and ensure that any work they carry out meets these standards too.

This may be true in most areas, much like any doctor will know the basics of healthcare. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t opt for the specialist in the area you require expertise in when you need it. For the tasks and circumstances that are not quite the same, it is good to know the differences between commercial and industrial electrical contractors, and which is best suited to your needs today.

Sydney Harbour is one of the most famous and recognisable spots in all the world, with its iconic landmarks, gorgeous views and vibrant and varied shops and restaurants. No one should spend time in Sydney without getting to experience this fantastic location, and indeed people flock from all over the world to take in the sights and sounds on offer.

Here we will take a look at exactly why Sydney Harbour is so famous, and give you a few of the top reasons why you should make it a priority to visit the harbour when you are in Sydney.

Why is Sydney Harbour so famous?

There are a great many reasons why Sydney Harbour is so famous, from the impressive architecture on display to the beautiful waterfront. Millions of people each year take the time to visit this well-known place, and here are a few of the top reasons that they do:

Sydney Opera House

Unsurprisingly, one of the best-known landmarks to be found in Sydney Harbour is the infamous opera house. It is a structural marvel that pretty much everyone in the world could identify on sight, utterly unique and stunning in its design and function.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site has become one of the best-known buildings in the world since it opened in 1973, and along with attending performances throughout the year, many visitors take a tour of the structure and consider it one of the highlights of any trip to Australia.

As well as checking out the inside of this incredible place, you can get some fantastic views from the water if you choose to experience Sydney Harbour by boat. Each of the layers of ‘shells’ is truly majestic, and should ideally be viewed from all angles if you can.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Along with the opera house, Sydney Harbour Bridge is another recognisable and famous landmark that brings so many visitors to Sydney Harbour each year. Since it opened in 1932 it has remained the tallest steel arch bridge in the world, though it is only the eighth largest, and it is an impressive and rather elegant-looking structure.

Running from the Central Business District to the North Shore, vehicles and pedestrians alike traverse the harbour day in and day out and experience the stunning views over the water and taking in the glory of the bridge itself. A trip to Sydney absolutely must include making that journey yourself.

The Water

Sydney was very much built on the water, and the harbour is a truly spectacular place to see that in action. From jumping on a ferry to cross to different attractions to taking your time on a boat cruise and absorbing the sights, you won’t want to miss seeing Sydney Harbour from the water.

You can also soak up the beauty and get a different view of the harbour from a kayak, or from any of the smaller islands that you can find there. There are so many ways to experience Sydney Harbour, and ideally, you should try as many of them as you can.

Alongside the water is the waterfront, brimming with bars, restaurants and plenty of places to sit and relax, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy the view. You can also head to one of the picturesque beaches that can be found here, as well as many parks and areas of natural beauty.

There is something for everyone

One of the best things about Sydney Harbour is that there really is something here for everyone to enjoy. Whether you prefer to jump into activities like kayaking or taking the climb over Sydney Harbour Bridge, or prefer to sit back with a glass of wine or a delicious meal at one of the waterfront restaurants, you can find it all in the harbour.

There are plenty of places to go and things to see to suit the whole family, including the zoo, aquarium, plenty of shops and businesses, and of course landmarks like the opera house and bridge. You can take a boat ride, go for a hike, or just wander around and take it all in. In Sydney Harbour, you can see and do so much that you could easily spend much of your trip to Sydney right here.

Is Sydney the largest harbour in the world?

Port Jackson, which includes Sydney Harbour and the surrounding area, is the largest natural harbour in the world. Named by Captain Cook upon his arrival for a member of the British Admiralty, it was the site of the first European Colony and Sydney grew up around it in later years.

Impressive in both size and scenery, Sydney Harbour is as interesting geographically and historically as it is to look at today, and fully deserving of both its fame and the number of visitors that it receives each year.

What celebrities live on Sydney Harbour?

With all that, there is to see and do, and with Sydney Harbour being one of the most well-known and famous places in all of Australia, it is no surprise that many of the most famous Australians have chosen to make their homes there.

Actors including Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman are known to have properties overlooking the waterfront here, and Russell Crowe, though born in New Zealand, spent a great deal of his childhood in Australia and moved to Sydney Harbour as an adult.

Along with its full-time residents, Sydney Harbour tends to be the location of choice for any celebrities visiting Australia to stay in for the duration of their visit. People who have spent time in this gorgeous place include Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts and Sir Elton John, to name just a few.

If you do visit Sydney, the harbour is definitely the place to be to do a little people-watching. As well as taking in all of the famous sights, you may well see a famous person as well.

Final Thoughts

With so much to take in here in Sydney Harbour, it is clear that it fully deserves its fame and recognition around the world. Between Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and all of the other wonderful things to see and do, enjoying a boat trip around the harbour and spending some time here is a must for any visit to both Sydney and Australia at large.

Strap into your seats and prepare to enter hyperspace! It’s about to get reeeeaaaaally nerdy up in here.

Is it worth collecting Star Wars figures?

So, is it worth collecting Star Wars figures? Well, the same could be same about literally anything; is it worth collecting anything at all? And what drives people to start a collection? In this section, we’ll delve a little deeper so that you can decide whether or not it’s worth it. First, let’s break it down:

Why do people collect things?

There are so many different reasons why people start collecting things. Some people do it purely for pleasure; others collect items to learn more about a specific subject; others do it to seek status or to be the very best; whereas some people simply do it out of pure love and loyalty to a given brand or franchise.

The fact is, archaeologists found that people have been interested in collecting things for thousands and thousands of years. One of the earliest collections found was a collection of crystals in the Kalahari region of Southern Africa. As to why that particular set of people chose crystals of all things to collect are hard to say, but we can hazard a guess: because they’re pretty and shiny!

Sure, those crystals didn’t offer the collector any practical advantages (unless the early human civilisations believed in the potential healing properties of stones, crystals, and minerals as many people do today), however, in any case, they would have provided the collector with a certain sense of pride achievement. We just like nice things!

Today, however, particularly when it comes to hobby collections, many people are driven by the potential investment. Take Star Wars figures as an example: for collectors with figures acquired between 1977 and 1985, some of their figures could be worth anywhere between $100 and $10,000! All you need to do is log onto eBay and you’ll be blown away by the sheer volume of branded collectibles on there and some of the prices they can fetch at auction.

So yes, money is a huge driving factor. You could start collecting figures today, and then revisit your collection in several decades and who knows, perhaps you could fetch a hefty return on your investment as well. Yes, there are certainly faster ways to make money, but if history has told us anything, it’s that branded figures that are kept in mint condition that fetch a nice price down the line.

Now that we know why people start collections, let’s talk about whether or not it’s too late to start yours…

Is it too late to start a Star Wars collection?

The short answer is no. Whether you are looking to collect for future profit, or simply because you’d love to have a games room dedicated to your favourite franchise, it is never too late to start a collection.

OK, yes, you would need a lot of money if you were to be able to start today and end up with the largest and rarest Star Wars collection in the world. However, as Theodore Roosevelt once famously said: “Comparison is the Thief of Joy.”

So, rather than start a collection to have the largest and rarest, start a collection for reasons of your own. You could invest in some quality figures today and cash in in 20 years, or so. It’s all about how long you’re willing to wait if profit is at the forefront of your priorities.

Otherwise, start a collection simply because it’s a franchise that you love and you want a cool setup of your own.

Is it worth starting a Star Wars figures collection?

This ties in closely with whether or not it’s ‘too late’. It’s entirely down to you! If you like Star Wars and want to collect figures, then yes, 100% it is worth starting a Star Wars collection. Again, it all depends on your reasoning behind it:

For prestige

For the love of it

For future investment

For something to do

To annoy your partner

These are all perfectly valid reasons and if any apply to you, then yes, it’s completely worth it. The fact is, you really don’t need a good reason to start collecting anything, other than the desire to do so.

If you are serious about investing your money into something that might be worth a lot someday, Star Wars figures have a proven track record of appreciating in value – quite significantly in some cases.

What is the best brand for Star Wars figures?

This is a difficult question to answer because it all depends on what you are using to measure it. After all, to go ahead and make an assumption would be a Wookie mistake!

So, what are your metrics? Do you want to know the best Star Wars figure brand based on production quality? Affordability? Rarity? Likelihood to appreciate in value? These are just a handful of considerations and as you can see, selecting the best brand is difficult.

Your best bet is to decide, why you want to start a Star Wars collection. Then you can go from there. In any case, here are some of the most popular and successful Star Wars toys brands on the market:

Hasbro: Hasbro has been knocking around since 1923 and has been creating Star Wars figures since the very beginning. While there are dozens of toy companies that have created Star Wars figures, many of the oldest and rarest will be from this brand.

Lego: Star Wars Lego is HUGE with the fans right now – particularly adults. This is arguably one of the best Star Wars figures brands on the market and if you want to build your collection (literally), then this is a great place to start.

Funko Pops: Funko Pops were founded back in 1998 and have grown exponentially in popularity over the last decade. You’ll instantly recognise a Funko Pop as being cute figurines with distinctly large heads and unique designs. If you want to start a collection with a light-hearted twist, Funko Pop is worth a look.

What are the most valuable Star Wars items?

The rarest and most valuable Star Wars items tend to be the rarest. For example, the original R2-D2 droid was auctioned off back in June of 2017 for a whopping $2.76 million USD!

Other valuable items of note include:

The original X-Wing Model

Darth Vader’s helmet

The first ever camera used to film the OG Star Wars

Han Solo’s blaster

Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber

As for collectible figurines, the most valuable Star Wars items, as you may have guessed, tend to be the most vintage! In fact, one of the most valuable Star Wars figurines was the 1978 unpainted L-Lock Rocket Fire Boba Fett, which fetched some $236,000 USD!

Conclusion: Tips for Starting Your Own Collection

Of course, for those who are looking to start a brand-new Star Wars collection, the main thing to consider is quality and condition. Make sure that you invest in some quality Star Wars figurines and then keep them that way!

Also, keep an eye out and attend plenty of yard and car boot sales. You’ll be amazed by the wonderful things you might be able to find.

You may also wish to pick a specific branch of the franchise to focus on. For example: If you are primarily a ‘The Mandalorian Fan’, then start your collection there. Or perhaps you are a lover of ‘The Bad Batch’, you could have one of the largest and most comprehensive collections in a decade or so.

In any case, whatever you decide, it’s all about dedication and consistency! In fact, you don’t even need to keep your cool official Star Wars merchandise in “mint condition” as we’ve suggested above. You could start a collection solely and purely for your own enjoyment – which means unboxing and playing with your figures as you desire.

What is a push-button switch called? How many different types of push-button are there and what are they; how do they differ? In this article, we’re going to take a closer look at what push buttons are and how they function. Want to learn more? Simply read on.

What is a push button?

So, what actually is a push button? A push-button, or more simply referred to as a button, is a switch mechanism that is used to control a certain aspect of a machine and/or process. The surface of a button is usually flat or concave shaped to facilitate the human finger, thumb, or hand – so as to be easily pushed.

Not to be confused with switches, pushbuttons typically have a temporary on/off position when pressed, whereas a switch has a permanent on/off position and must be pressed again to reverse the process.

What is a push-button switch called?

What is a push-button switch called? A push-button has various different names depending on its functionality. For example, an N.O switch (normally open), is used for doorbells, the keys on a keyboard, and the numbers found on a calculator (to name a few). These are pressed in once and then automatically return back to its original position once the finger has been removed.

Then there is a ‘push to break’ push button switch which essentially does the opposite, for example: when the button is pressed, electricity can flow and the button remains depressed, but when un-pressed, the circuit is broken once more.

How many types of pushbuttons are there?

So, how many different types of push-button are there? While pushbuttons come in a variety of different shapes, sizes, colours, and materials, and on all manner of applications, there are two main types of push-button, in terms of functionality:

Momentary (aka normally open): Momentary push buttons refer to when the action only occurs once the button (or actuator) has been pressed.

Alternate action (aka push to break): Alternate action pushbuttons refer to when the contacts are maintained until pressed again.

Here are some other types of push-button (same functionality, different style):

2-position push-button: often encased in plastic with a key to unlock action.

Dual push buttons: one button for electrical connection, another to switch it off (e.g., red and green).

Miniature push: typically used to reset small digital devices, such as a wristwatch.

Square push buttons: commonly found on automated equipment and heavy machinery.

Panel mounted buttons: as the name suggests, panel-mounted pushbuttons are designed to be attached to sturdy mountings.

Locking push-button switches: featuring a mechanical locking function.

What are the different types of push-button switches?

Again, there are only really two different types of push-button switches, although they do have several different names. Momentary switches: where the action occurs once the button is pressed; and alternate action, where the contacts are maintained after being pressed until depressed once more.

How does a push-button work?

So, how does a push-button actually work? What goes on underneath? Most push-button switches function in the exact same way; pressure is placed on the button which depresses an internal spring which makes contact with the inner ‘stable contacts’ at the bottom of the switch thus connecting an open circuit, or closing an electrical circuit.

Momentary switches press in and out again in one motion. So, for example: when you press the power button on your computer, you press the button once, it is depressed momentarily, and then the button returns to its original state. However, the action notified the computer to begin its boot-up sequence giving it power.

An alternate action, on the other hand, is pressed in, and the button remains depressed until interacted with once more. So, for example, an alarm clock, fail-safe circuit, or refrigerator light typically uses a push to break button.

What are pushbuttons used for?

What are push buttons generally used for? A push button switch is used for many different applications. Here are some examples:

Calculators

Card machines

Vending machines

The buttons on an ATM

Espresso machine

Blender

Doorbells

Computer power switches

Washing machine

Dishwasher

The keys on a keyboard

Toilet flush

Joystick switches

Selector switches

Microwave ovens

Emergency stop button on power tools and heavy machinery

And various other domestic, industrial, and commercial equipment.

What are push buttons made of?

What are push buttons made of? The materials vary, though they are typically made from either plastic or metal. A rubber casing is often used to cover the button to increase the amount of grip on the finger when pressing the button, depending on the environment. In some cases, waterproof covers may also be used (particularly in an industrial environment to protect the electronics and the user).

Conclusion

To recap:

A push-button, or more simply referred to as a button, is a switch mechanism that is used to control a certain aspect of a machine and/or process.

There are two types of push-button: Momentary and Alternate Action.

Most push-button switches function in the exact same way; pressure is placed on the button which depresses an internal spring which makes contact with the inner ‘stable contacts’ at the bottom of the switch thus connecting an open circuit, or closing an electrical circuit.

Push buttons are used in a wide variety of applications, from the buttons on a calculator to the flush on a toilet.

That covers the essentials. We hope this guide has answered your questions regarding push switches. If you are looking for specific components, you can find a wide variety of push buttons and switches at any reputable electrical supplier.

For many people working in an office, the size, layout, décor, and furnishings are critical to their overall performance. But that’s not all. The cleanliness and upkeep of the office space are equally as important.

Not only do people not want to work in a dirty environment, but if they can see that management does not value or care for the space, neither will they. As such, keeping your office space clean and clutter-free is one of the most fundamental aspects of running a business – and something that is often overlooked.

The same applies to anyone who may visit your office. If a potential client walks into an office space which hasn’t been cleaned in weeks, just what kind of impression is that going to make? For one thing, they will have very little faith in your attention to detail.

So, now that we know how important office cleaning is, what is involved? How long does it take to clean an office and how often should it be cleaned? In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know.

What is included in office cleaning?

What is included in office cleaning? The services of an office cleaning professional include:

Carpet and floor maintenance

As your carpets and floors receive a lot of foot traffic throughout the day, they require an awful lot of cleaning. Here’s what you can expect from a cleaning service:

Vacuuming

Stain removal

Sweeping

Mopping

Varnishing and buffing

Every now and again a deep-cleaning service will be required. Depending on the condition of the flooring and how dirty it gets, this may be done once every few months, to once a year.

Surface care

Keep all of the surfaces in your office clean and tidy with professional surface care. This will include:

Desks

Tables

Chairs

Lights switches

Banisters

Shelving

Doorknobs

Window frames

Garbage disposal

There is a lot of waste that will build up over the course of each day, from paper waste to fruit peels from employees snacking in the day. As such, it is important the bins are emptied daily, and that the garbage is disposed of appropriately. The last thing you want is a nasty-smelling office filled with germs.

Kitchen cleaning

You want to ensure that the kitchen space employees use on their breaks in clean and sanitary. A professional cleaner will take care of the following:

Empty bins

Wipe down and disinfect benches

Clean out microwaves, fridges, and all other appliances

Polish up the sinks if you have them

Bathroom cleaning

Keeping your bathrooms clean and sanitary is essential. Of course, this is the kind of job that most people would prefer to avoid but fortunately, commercial office cleaners can make short work of it:

Cleaning and sanitising all basins and toilets

Polishing ceramics

Removing stains from sinks, faucets, and mirrors

Restocking toiletries (towels, loo rolls, and hand soaps)

Window cleaning

Dust and dirt can build up on your windows on the inside, limiting how much light can get through and ultimately becoming an eyesore. In order to keep them looking their best, your commercial office cleaners will wash and polish the windows on the inside removing all smudges, fingerprints, and dust.

Sanitisation and disinfection

Particularly in a post-COVID-19 world, keeping your office sanitary and disinfected is paramount. If you wish to keep your employees safe and healthy, you should hire a commercial cleaning team to keep on top of this.

Professional cleaners will wipe down every surface (particularly in high-traffic areas), using effective disinfectants.

Door handles, telephones, and light switches are some of the most effective breeding grounds for germs, and keeping them clean is essential.

How long does it take to clean an office?

So, how long does it take to clean an office? Naturally, the time will vary depending on the size of your building and the level of cleaning you are paying for. However, for 1 person doing all of the above, it should take approximately 1 hour to clean 3000-4000 square feet.

How often should you clean your office?

The industry standard for general office cleaning ranges between 3 and 5 days a week. Depending on how big your office is and how many employees you have, you may need to maintain a 5-day-a-week cleaning schedule.

If you don’t want to commit to 5 days a week immediately, perhaps start off with a 3-day cleaning schedule and see what condition the office is in. If you find that your office is too dirty on the days in between, 5-days is more realistic.

Why is office cleaning so important?

The environment that you create for your employees has a massive impact on their overall productivity.

By reducing the mess, dirt, and clutter that litters the office, you will be creating a clean environment with fewer distractions. As such, your staff will have a much easier time focusing on their job, rather than feeling uncomfortable as a result of the unnecessary mess.

Again, your office will also be the first thing that any potential clients see. You do not want a client’s first impression of your brand to be a messy and cluttered office. As such, it is always worth putting in the time and effort to keep your office spick and span.

Conclusion

In summary, a professional commercial office cleaning service will ensure every aspect of your workspace is maintained, covering:

Carpet and floors

Surfaces

Garbage

Kitchens

Bathrooms

Windows

Disinfection

It shouldn’t take much more than 1-hour for 1-person to clean an office of 3000-4000 square feet. This should be done a minimum of 3-days a week, with 5-days being more realistic.

If you are currently used to tossing all of your food scraps into the garbage, but you’d like to start doing your part for the environment, you may wish to start composting. The best part, is that it is actually much easier than you might imagine. That, and you don’t need to invest a lot of money into getting set up either.

In this article, we’re going to take you through the basics of composting for beginners, doing so indoors, and using an electric compost bin to make life easier as well. Let’s get stuck in!

Composting For Beginners

Aside from the obvious environmental benefits that come from composting, there are a number of other attractive benefits as well. For example:

Composting is free! Imagine organic-rich soil without having to pay the hefty price tag for high-quality fertilizer. You get your very own home made fertilizer for free!

It’s fun! Studying your compost pile throughout the decomposition process is actually rather interesting. If you have children, it’s a great way to teach them about science!

Reduce your trash output! And subsequently, your carbon footprint. Instead of throwing organic greens and brown materials straight into the trash, these waste materials can begin decomposing in your composter immediately.

It’s painless and easy! Composting is more or less foolproof. Simply dump your organic matter and forget about it. Then, you can harvest the rich fertilizer at the end of it. Easy!

Indoor Composting For Beginners

Indoor composting is pretty straight forward. You don’t need a huge garden space to do it. In fact, you don’t even need a garden to compost. Here’s a simply guide for maintaining a healthy indoor compost bin:

Never leave your waste exposed to air—this will invariably attract fruit flies. Bury your waste completely and cover the exposed scraps with additional soil and brown matter.

Chop and tear all of your kitchen scraps up as much as you can before you add them to the compost pile. The soil microbes will be able to break down the smaller scraps quicker and easier, thus speeding up your decomposition process.

Ensure that the compost bin is as moist as a wrung-out sponge. You can add water to the compost pile as needed, to keep it moist, but suitably dry.

Keep a handy watering can and a bad of dead leaves close by so that you can add to the compost pile if it becomes too dry or too moist.

What is the best type of indoor food compost bin?

Ideally, you’ll want to use an electric composter for indoor composting. These are compact, affordable, and can easily sit on your kitchen side. But how do they work?

Use an Electric Indoor Composter

Using an electric composter is the best alternative for indoor composting, using aeration, heat, and pulverization to reduce your food waste, the emissions, and any odors. The average indoor food composter is counter-trop friendly as mentioned above, but some can be as big as a large garbage bin. It’s entirely up to you which size you go for; it all comes down to how much food waste you are producing on a daily basis.

In any case, most indoor food composters function in the same way. Here is the process:

Drying:

Most hot compost piles will reach an average of 120-170 ℉. This is an ideal temperature as it will kill any seeds, pathogens, or diseases. This temperature was modeled after a naturally occurring optimal heat. The aeration is distributed throughout the gentle turning by the electric composter’s gears, ensuring that every inch of the compost is properly sterilized and free of methane. The air is then vented out the back of the unit, which is pushed through a carbon filter, thus capturing any odors and removing them. Following that, the grinding process begins.

Grinding:

The next phase is grinding, which is essentially ‘turning’ the compost pile. Once the food waste has been sufficiently reducing in size (up to 90% of the original volume), the units grinding gears begin to turn the contents (once revolution per minute). This breaks the food waste down ever further, often into a power0like substance which can be mixed easily with soil, allowing the nutrients to be released throughout.

The break-down process allows the final product created by your electric composter to act as a convenient quick-release fertilizer. Once it has been incorporated into your soil, the brown down food waste combines with the soil and released its important nutrients to the plant roots immediately.

In addition to that, the ideal size of the organic fertilizer particles means that the soil will continue the decomposition process, acting as a slow-release fertilizer that will keep your plants and soil nourished for the following week as well.

Cooling:

The cooling phase of an electric composters life cycle is the final stage of the food recyclers 3-stage process. This cycle simply returns the composter and the unit’s bucket back to room temperature, making it safe for handling. This phase further continues the aeration and dehumidifying process of the previous phases as well.

Conclusion

As you can see, the process of composting food in your home is actually relatively simple. All you need to do is ensure that you are putting the correct waste into your electric food composter and then the rest is handled automatically on your behalf. A Hass food waste composter is arguably one of the best indoor electronic composters on the market, so if you are thinking about getting started with your own composting then that is a great place to start!

In any case, composting is a great way of doing your part for the environment, reducing your carbon footprint, and making the most of your food waste products, as opposed to simply throwing them out and forgetting about them. Recycle, re-use, and enjoy!

One of the most common questions that pop up regarding garden maintenance, is: How many times should I fertilise my lawn? It is something you likely suspect that you need to do, whilst simultaneously worrying that it is something you don’t want to overdo as well! Finding the right balance is essential for keeping your lawn happy and healthy, and looking fantastic all year round.

You see, lawns require regular feeding, but with a top-quality lawn fertiliser in order to get the best possible results. Ideally, you want to fertilise your lawn at least three times a year; once in Spring, again in the Summer, and finally in Autumn. However, if that sounds like a little bit too much work for your liking and you only wish to fertilise once per year, then make sure you do it during the Springtime. In any case, the optimal amount is three times per year.

Here’s why using quality fertiliser three times a year is worth it:

An average lawn should only take 10 mins to fertilise properly

One application should last for up to three months

A slow-release can ensure that you do not flood your soil or pollute any nearby bushland or waterways with excess runoff

And of course, if you would prefer not to get your hands dirty, there are plenty of local services that will take care of your lawn on your behalf. Simply contact your local Lawn supplies company and they will be able to direct you further.

How often should you use lawn feed?

The more well-fed the lawn, the healthier it is. This means that it will have a healthier root system that helps to combat hot weather, cold, long drought, consistent mowing, heavy foot traffic, and other traumas. Feeding once a year is certainly enough to improve its condition, however, if you want the best possible results, up to 3-4 times a year can yield wonderful results.

Can you over fertilize your lawn?

You absolutely can and this is something that you must be aware of before attempting to fertilise your lawn. The problem is, when you over fertilise a lawn, the salts from the fertiliser begin to build up in the soil which causes a drying effect. This then turns your grass yellow, and it begins to brown off and die. This is called ‘fertiliser burn’. Fertiliser burn doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the road for your lawn and that you’ll need to start again from scratch, however, it is something that you will want to avoid.

There are ways of helping your lawn to recover from fertiliser burn, but again, if you can avoid it entirely, you won’t need to worry about it. Here are some tips on how to prevent fertiliser burn:

Preventing fertiliser burn:

Fertilise your lawn only according to its needs. Using more fertiliser in one go isn’t going to help your lawn, instead, it only runs the risk of killing it entirely

Slow-release fertilisers tend to work best as they can release the salts slowly into the soil rather than all at once

Composting is a safe alternative to fertilising if you are uncertain that you will get the measurements right

Be mindful of fertilising during drought as your lawn will be much more susceptible to fertiliser burn

Avoid fertilising a wet lawn and do not get fertiliser on wet leaves

Water deeply once applying fertiliser to help the salts to distribute properly throughout the turf

How often should I water my lawn?

Aiming to water your lawn 2 or 3 times a week for an hour is superior to watering the lawn 6 times a week for 15 minutes at a time. The thing is, especially in Australia, you want to train your lawn to be more resistant to drought. By watering frequently and for short amounts of time, you will only make the lawn less tolerant to drought. However, watering deep and consistently but spread out a bit more is highly effective.

If your lawn is well-fed and maintained, then it is much more likely to survive dryer conditions. This is good to know if you have a particularly large lawn or if you live in a suburb that has regular water restrictions on sprinkler systems. If you do, however, live in an area that allows irrigation systems, then switch to that from hand watering your garden. This can help you to automate the watering process and ensure that the lawn is definitely getting enough.

Adjustable watering patterns to avoid hard surfaces (you don’t need to water your fence)

Add a timer so that you do not forget to turn the tap off

Conclusion

Of course, how often you should feed your lawn really comes down to the type of grass that you have. There are many different varieties on the market that each has its own perks, features, and benefits. So, if you find yourself unsure, simply contact your local specialist. They will be able to talk you through your specific turf variety and how best to care for it. Or alternatively, if you are looking to upgrade your lawn and have a fresh lot of turf laid down, they can assist you. That way, you can opt for a grass variety that requires far less maintenance (if that is what you are looking for). Otherwise, there are other more demanding grass types that are indeed worth the extra effort that goes into maintaining it.

A crucial aspect of caring for deciduous fruiting lemon trees is pruning. By pruning a lemon tree, you can improve the branch set and thus reduce the possibility of a branch breaking from heavy fruit. Additionally, it can increase aeration, improve the availability of light, and even improve the quality of the fruit itself. Lemon trees, much like other fruiting trees, require cutting back in order to create healthier fruit. That said, how do you prune a lemon tree? When is the best time to prune a lemon tree? These are all important questions that we will answer in this article.

Lemon trees are less likely to break under the weight of larger fruits as citrus wood is strong. In addition to that, citrus trees can also fruit throughout, including shaded areas, making the need to prune for light improvement less important. That said, it is still incredibly important to prune your lemon tree on occasion. Young trees require this to ensure that any weak limbs are pruned out and so that adult trees with regular sprouts are kept in check. It is also important to prune for dead or crossed limbs as this can cause serious health issues and impede future growth.

How to prune a lemon tree

Lemon tree pruning requires that you use razor sharp, clean pruning shears or saws, and of course, gloves to protect yourself from the thorns. Although the bark of a citrus tree is indeed very strong, the bark is thin and quite easy to damage, so great care must be taken throughout the pruning process.

You must always ensure that pruning cuts take place with the blade pointing toward the tree, in order to reduce any nicking. Also make sure that you do not cut a branch flush with the trunk or on larger branches. The overall goal when pruning citrus is preserving the branch collar. This is the area around the base of a limb which tends to look wrinkled. We call this area the “branch defence zone”. This is because it activates callus tissue that can grow when over-pruning occurs in order to defend against decay.

Lemon tree pruning should be done using a three-cut system for any branches that are thicker than an inch in order to prevent any unnecessary damage to the bark.

Begin with an angled cut 10-12” (5cm) out from the branch joinery

Cut back a third of the way through the branch from the underside

Move several inches up the branch and cut from above, thus severing the branch

DO NOT prune more than a third of the tree in a year (this is dangerous for the tree)

Pruning should begin a year or two into the tree’s life for training

Keep the tree in the region of 8-10 feet

Only remove branches that are unnecessary (crossed, dying, or diseased limbs and sprouts)

When is the best time to prune a lemon tree?

Knowing when to prune lemon trees is important. You need to get the right time otherwise you will risk losing the year’s yield and when life doesn’t give you lemons…well, that sucks too! So, when is the right time to prune a lemon tree? You should begin after it has produced its first full harvest of fruit, allowing it plenty of time for recovery prior to the upcoming fruiting season.

Pruning lemon trees in Australia is a little different due to the warmer climate. This gives you a little more in the way of room when it comes to timing. You can prune your lemon tree in the summer, but just don’t prune the tree when the climate is at its hottest as this is almost certainly not the best time to prune a lemon tree. In any case, Feb through Month tend to be some of the best months for pruning.

(Pro Tip: You can prune whenever the tree is producing flowers).

How to trim a lemon tree

Trimming and pruning are often used interchangeably, however, there is a different between the two terms. You see, removing dead, diseased, or crossed branch is pruning. However, trimming on the other hand occurs when you wish to cut back an overgrown plant. So, if your lemon tree is growing a little wild and you suspect that it is too large, you can cut back any unnecessary bulk. Again, just remember not to trim more than a third of the tree in a year as the trauma can kill it. Be mindful when over-trimming and consult your local arborist if you require more information on how much you can get away with.

Lemon tree maintenance

Lemon tree pruning is all well and good, but without the proper care and maintenance, it won’t be enough. Here are some important things that you should know about caring for your tree all year round.

Climate: Most lemon trees do wonderfully in warmer climates as they are drought tolerant, yet sensitive to frost

Aspect: Lemon trees should have full sunlight, whilst being protected from strong winds and frost

Soil: Lemon trees are flexible with soil but prefer well-drained and acidic soil

Planting: When planting a lemon tree, you can do so at any time of year in warmer climates but be sure to water regularly. Citrus trees thrive in large pots. However, if you are planting in the yard, make sure that the soil is kept moist, that it is in a sunny location, and to give it regular citrus fertiliser

Water: Lemon trees grow wonderfully in moist soil, so long as it isn’t too soggy. Aim to water the tree every 7 to 10 days for the best results during summer. Be mindful of overwatering as citrus can suffer from crown and root rot if overdone

Feeding: Citrus use up an awful lot of energy in order to feed their flowering and fruiting. Thus, you should feed your tree plenty if you wish to have the best yields. You can tell from stunted growth and yellowing leaves that the tree is undernourished. Be sure to fertilise and feed well (twice yearly in Feb and August).

Conclusion

Lemon trees are beautiful and the fact that they bear fruit make them even more of a pleasure to have around your home. Just be careful not to overdo it with the pruning. Follow these steps carefully and you shouldn’t have any problems. However, should you be unsure, always consult your local arborist and seek professional assistance for the best results.

It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar.

The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. She packed her seven versalia, put her initial into the belt and made herself on the way. When she reached the first hills of the Italic Mountains, she had a last view back on the skyline of her hometown Bookmarksgrove, the headline of Alphabet Village and the subline of her own road, the Line Lane.

The copy warned the Little Blind Text, that where it came from it would have been rewritten a thousand times and everything that was left from its origin would be the word “and” and the Little Blind Text. Warned the Little Blind Text, that where it came from it would have been rewritten a thousand times and everything that was left from its origin would be the word “and” and the Little Blind Text should turn around and return to its own, safe country.

But nothing the copy said could convince her and so it didn’t take long until a few insidious Copy Writers ambushed her, made her drunk with Longe and Parole and dragged her into their agency, where they abused her for their projects again and again.

Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.

And if she hasn’t been rewritten, then they are still using her. Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.

When she reached the first hills of the Italic Mountains, she had a last view back on the skyline of her hometown Bookmarksgrove, the headline of Alphabet Village and the subline of her own road, the Line Lane. Pityful a rethoric question ran over her cheek, then she continued her way. On her way she met a copy.
